Our Story
Meet Brittney, the passionate force behind Service Buddies and BitSea. As a proud stepmom of two beautiful girls and three wonderful dogs, her life is a whirlwind of love and furry companionship.
Brittney's journey hasn't been without its challenges. Diagnosed at a young age with ADHD and ODD, she faced hurdles that shaped her perspective and resilience. It wasn't until her late 30s, amidst the growing awareness of mental health online, that Brittney truly understood the impact of her conditions. Through the voices of others, she found solace and clarity, realizing that her ADHD was so much more than just the fuel for her vibrant array of interests and skills.
With a lifelong passion for animals, Brittney's path naturally led her to care for them in various capacities. From working in pet stores to becoming an animal husbandry technician, her heart was always with the animals. When she moved to the Virgin Islands and witnessed the plight of stray animals, Brittney knew she had to act.
Enter Layla, the first of Brittney's rescues, followed by Buddy, a timid soul in need of love. Through patience and perseverance, she transformed Buddy into a beloved member of her pack, overcoming his past traumas.
However, life threw a curveball when Brittney's mom broke her leg, requiring Brittney to return home. With two larger dogs and the travel restrictions put in place since COVID, Brittney faced a dilemma. This challenge birthed Service Buddies LLC, as Brittney trained her dogs to become her service companions, providing invaluable support for her anxiety and so much more.
Service Buddies evolved into a platform not only for training service dogs but also for raising awareness about island dogs in need and neurodivergence. Inspired by her journey, Brittney expanded her endeavors to include an online store, BitSea, offering pet products, portraits, and Caribbean-inspired merchandise & more.
With boundless energy and a heart full of empathy, Brittney embraces her unique perspective & creativity to make a difference in the lives of others. Her story is one of resilience, compassion, and the transformative power of love—for animals and humans alike. Join her on this inspiring journey as we set sail to make the world a little brighter, one wagging tail at a time!
